Hello,
I am seeking an about 2 inch by 3 inch square of about 16-18 gauge stiff
aluminum or stiff copper. I don't know my alloys, sorry. I need to bend it
with hand tools to 90 degrees and trim the shape with a Dremel which should
be doable with common alloys. It's a repair to an appliance that is out of
date for parts. By the way, appliances are engineered in our international
American economy for 5 maybe up to 10 years. There is only one kitchen
appliance company which guarantees replacement parts 25 years after the
model is discontinued and they are priced new at 3-4x all the other brands.
Something to think about.
Thanks in advance and best all

You'll want 5052 Aluminum in order to bend corners easily. 6061 T6 Aluminum is too stiff and will crack easily. 16-18 gauge is kinda thick to bend by hand, usually around 29 gauge is better for accurate hand bending. Pre-plated and painted steel sheets would work too.

If you stop by a hardware store, you can get galvanized roofing tin and use
that. I would bend/cut it into shape and then spray paint it whatever color
you want. It comes in decently small pieces. If you talk to them about what
you're doing, they might even have a better suggestion. Any Lowe's/Home
Depot/Ace/ local whatever hardware store should be able to help you.
